The Mer de Glace in Chamonix

Visitors from the entire world come to see the Sea of Ice. At 7 kilometres long and 200 meters deep, it is the longest glacier in France. From Chamonix, take the Montenvers train to the Glacier and enjoy fantastic landscapes.

 

Lake Aiguebelette

Motors boats are not allowed on its waters which make the place silent and peaceful. Lake Aiguebelette is the smallest of the 4 lakes of Savoie Mont Blanc (Lake Geneva, Lake Bourget and Lake Annecy) and its crystal clear water goes up to 28° in the summer!

 

The Vanoise national park

It is the first French national park created in 1963. The park is at the border of the National Grand Paradis park in Italy. They are the largest protected areas in Western Europe: an ideal place for ibex, chamois mountain goats, marmots, royal eagle...

  

Savouring the Pollan fish

Savoie Mont Blanc will amaze you: not only will you enjoy fantastic cheeses and wines, but also a very refined cuisine made of fishes. Pollan but also char, fario or trouts can be found in our lakes or rivers.

  

The Jardin des 5 Sens in Yvoire

Discover a garden of poetry and dreams at the heart of the medieval village of Yvoire on the shores of Lake Geneva. A universe of colour, scent, sound and textures, changing with the hours and seasons. The garden has been classified by the French Ministry of Culture as "Jardin Remarquable".

 

  

Baroque chapels and churches

Follow the Baroque theme with our Chemins du Baroque specially marked routes in the Val d'Arly, Beaufortain, Tarentaise and Maurienne. There's also Sentier du Baroque in the north of the region. Guided tours are organised: ask the nearest tourist office.

  

Sixt Fer à Cheval & the valley du Bout du Monde

Sixt Fer à Cheval is classified amongst the "Most Beautiful Villages of France". Le Cirque du Fer is a mountainous circus, such as Gavarnie. This site offers a fabulous spectacle with multiple cascades... A walk in the Nature Reserve in direction of the "End of the World" is impossible to circumvent, not to miss!

 

The Canal de Savière and Chanaz

On lake Bourget, the Savière canal is the link between the lake and the Rhône river. By boat you can reach the lovely village of Chanaz with its savoyard restaurants, lovely terrasses and pedestrian streets. Maybe you will be lucky enough to see a beaver family on the shore of the canal!
