30% of the skiable area in Europe is in France, and two-third of France's ski slopes are in Savoie and Haute-Savoie.

The two "departments", which joined forces in 2006 to form the Savoie Mont Blanc tourist destination, boast many of the world's most famous ski resorts : Val d'Isère, Méribel, Courchevel, Chamonix, Megève etc. and fully linked ski areas: The 3 Vallées, Espace Killy, Paradiski, Les Portes du Soleil, Grand Massif etc.
